Remembering Csaba Horváth and other past award recipients
Time was spent remembering Csaba Horváth, Jack Kirkland and Loyd Snyder, past recipients of the medal. Jack Kirkland passed away in 2016 and Loyd Snyder passed during 2018.
Along with the late Jack Kirkland, Lloyd introduced a whole generation of chromatographers to HPLC with their "Introduction to Modern LC" course taught for the American Chemical Society from 1971 - 1993, and the book of the same title (1st edition 1974; 2nd edition 1979; 3rd edition 2009).
We lost another great separations scientist on October 15th:
John Henderson Knox (1927-2018) was Emeritus Professor of Physical Chemistry at the University of Edinburgh and is considered a distinguished contributor to the fields of reaction kinetics and chromatography. Knox's work included development of the Knox Equation, now used commonly to describe the spreading of a solute into bands in liquid chromatography.
